Ready for the Party began as a gift for my sister, who has had a lifelong soft spot for hippos. I imagined this cheerful party gal dressed in her finest floral crown, ready to celebrate with a smile that's impossible not to return.
On a whim, I decided to make prints of the painting, never expecting it to become such a favorite. To this day, I'm always delighted when someone wandering through my studio stops, smiles, and instantly connects with her. There's something about her playful spirit that seems to brighten people's day—and I hope she brings a little happiness to yours as well.
